The HP Smart Array P431 Controller is a low profile, PCIe3 x8, 12 Gb/s capable Serial Attached SCSI (SAS) RAID controller that provides enterprise class storage performance, increased external scalability, and data protection for select HP ProLiant Gen8 rack and tower servers. It features eight external physical links and delivers increased server uptime by providing advanced storage functionality, including online RAID level migration (between any RAID levels) with Flash Backed Write Cache (FBWC), global online spare, and pre-failure warning. Data compatibility between HP Smart Array Controllers means customers can easily upgrade to future Smart Array Controllers.

Increased Performance and Scalability.
The HP Smart Array P431 delivers performance boost to accelerate workload. Provides greater scalability for explosive data growth with support up to 200 drives per controller. DDR3-1600MHz Flash Back Write Cache provides up to 12.8 GB/s maximum cache bandwidth with the 2 GB cache model. DDR3-1866MHz Flash Back Write Cache kit w/battery provides up to 14.9 Gb/s maximum cache bandwidth with the 4 GB cache model. HP SSD Smart Path provides up to 4x better SSD read performance for Microsoft Windows, Linux and VMware.

Data Protection.
Data security with optional HP Secure Encryption, an enterprise-class encryption solution for data at rest on any bulk storage attached to the P431 Controller. Long term data retention with 2GB or 4GB Flash Back Write Cache (FBWC). Predictive spare activation for improved rebuild and maximized uptime. Standard on the P431 are RAID 6 ADG, RAID 60 ADG, RAID 1 ADM.
